RARH’s Mission
RARH provides opportunities for rug hookers to gather, learn, and be inspired in the craft of rug hooking.  Our Mission is to:

  • Develop interest in rug hooking
  • Provide means for the exchange of ideas and information among members
  • Promote educational activities for members.

Rochester Public Library

rochester libraryIn support of our Mission, RARH provides outreach through the Rochester Public Library.   Our next program is in the planning stage, and include a hands on opportunity to give hooking a try. A resource list will be provided for those interested in more information.

Las Rancheritas

las racheritasThe Rug Hook Project was created in 1993 by a group of expatriates living in San Miguel de Allende Mexico. Their vision was to enhance the lives of rural women in two ways:   First: Find a way for women to earn money- The Rug Hook Project
Second: provide scholarships for girls- Mujeres en Cambio http://mujeresencambio.org/

Today RARH supports Las Rancherita through the gift of wool.  The brights and lights are especially appreciated as the women design and create rugs that reflect the vibrant colors and life in Mexico. The donations enable our “sisters” in Agustin Gonzales, a subsistence farming community, to improve the quality of life in their entire village.
